A night with the School Stars.

The 2017 JVW Schools League Awards was held on the 10th of November at the Kempton Park Civic center. The night couldn’t have been completed without the presence of the Founder and Projector Manager of the JVW Girls Schools League Program; Janine van Wyk and Lauren Duncan.

Other guests of honour who were present on the special evening include, Banyana and JVW FC Midfielder Nompumelelo Nyandeni, Banyana and JVW FC Goalkeeper Yolula Tsawe, Basetsana and JVW midfielder Gabriela Salgado, Former JVW Stars and TUT Ladies Soccer Team Midfielder, Mmabatho Dire as well as JVW FC’s Headline Sponsor, Carfind.co.za representatives; Tara Turkington and Kevin van Deventer.

We would like to give special thanks to Lizah Rubisane and Ekurhuleni Sports and Recreation for continuing their support for the Programme and of course for their contribution towards the wonderful evening.

The JVW Schools League has now completed its 6th successful year, since its formation in 2012, with 147 teams currently participating and over 3000 girls actively playing competitive football at School. The League was formed to raise the standard of Girls football at School Level, with intentions of bridging the gap between club and school standards. Through the Schools League, Players have been identified for National Teams, as well as Sasol League and LFA Club Teams. Coaches and Referees also have opportunities to attend Coaching and Referee Courses to further their knowledge in the game.

The Award ceremony which is held a couple of weeks after the Playoffs, aims to spotlight top performers throughout the League for their hard work and efforts over the Season. Players, Sports Coordinators, Coaches, and League Referees share in the celebration of growing the sport together, with more and more schools interested in taking part each year.

Among the 600 invited guests, were proud parents, beaming coaches, supporters and officials who all played their part in making the League a success. The Overall winners of the League, the 21 Stream Winners as well as the Individual winners were awarded on the prestigious night.
